The Suffolk County Community College Theatre program gives students a basic training in theatre production. It also provides the foundation for transfer into a B.A. or B.F.A. program. There are three tracks offered in the AS program one in General Theatre, one in Acting and one in Technical Theatre. In addition the program offers a one year certificate in Automated Lighting and Stage rigging in response to industry demands for trained technicians. Through the years many Suffolk Theatre Arts Alumni have gone on to distinguished careers among them Marie Danvers who played Christine in Broadway’s Phantom of the Opera and many many others.
The Theatre office is located on the Ammerman Campus in the Islip Arts Building, Room 121, Phone (631)451-4163. The Ammerman Campus is located on County Road 97 (Nicolls Road), approximately two miles north of the Long Island Expressway.
